General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hi,

I have purchased a NAS (Lacie network space 2 vers 1.2.6) that I am planning to use as a ftp server. My routeur is my Apple TimeCapsule (vers 7.5.2). I have enable NAT config as prescribed in the Airport user guide and registered ny ip address at dnydns. the domain is http://aspac.dnydns.org. WAN is: 219.79.120.204 I have also port mapped using ftp access and forward port 21. I am able to get the welcome page from within my network but from outside nothing is coming up. I presume I am missing something with the Airport config...

Feedback from other users of the Apple Airport and TimeCapsule is appreciated.

Thanks,

Clem

It sounds like you may not have forwarded the required ports (20/TCP and 21/TCP). See this guide for details and if you have problems please edit your question and tell us:

  • The WAN IP shown in your Airport's management pages
  • The make, model and revision of any ADSL modem or router
  • The make, model and revision of your NAS

Be aware that FTP doesn't work well with port forwarding and NAT. If your NAS supports other options such as SFTP or file access over HTTP you may want to consider those instead.

That WAN IP is shown in the Airport's management pages, not a page on the Internet? You don't have any ADSL modem or another router?

Your Lacie has a fixed IP address on the LAN, with the correct netmask (probably 255.255.255.0) and default gateway (your Airport's LAN IP address)?

I don't see port 21 or even port 20 open on the IP you posted. Have you checked that your ISP doesn't block ports?
