General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hi friends,

Need some assistance!

My setup

  1. One aDSL modem UTstar 304R2 - connected to my ISP
  2. One wireless router - Netgear WNR834B
  3. One laptop running on Windows XPSP3 connected to wireless router
  4. GUEST Operating Sys - On the laptop, installed VMware. Installed Windows XP SP2. Firewall has bee disabled. No antivirus is installed.
  5. Installed XAMPP server on Guest
  6. Installed Updater client on Guest

I have created a domain name using DDNS. On launching the domain on Guest/Host, I am displayed the aDSL modem home page (after the password prompt)

I am not very clear on Port Forwarding/DMZ etc. I would request someone to provide me step by step instructions to resolve the domain to launch the XAMPP server.

1 Answer:

This is your starting point. You'll need to use bridged networking in VMWare and then forward port 80/TCP from:

  1. Modem to Router's WAN (external) IP address
  2. Router to the guest's IP address

Thanks! Actually this is what I need assitance on! Port forwarding for http port 80 from aDSL to Router and Router to Guest OS

I am not very familiar with port forwarding on the modem and the router. I attempted to work on it with the port forwarding website, however I somehow feel that the instructions are not working for me!

Would you be able to provide step by step instructions to a noob like me :)
