I use a local internet service and they use some odd networking scheme. After updating my DDNS Info in my router (Netgear n3400), the Dyndns settings were updated to the ip address (72.51.253.2) that is returned by the check ip tool. Here is the rub! The IP address is actually my service providers main router. After this address is the secondary router with a private addy of 10.1.., then a series of repeaters with similar addys. Finally my rooftop reciever (10.9.4.1) connected to my router (192.168.1.1). So, do I need to contact my service provider and upgrade my service to a dedicated IP, or is there a way around this. |

There's no way around that - you have to speak to your service provider about getting a public IP address since your WAN IP is an RFC1918 one. |
