I only want others to see an 'FTP' folder when they log into my domain, now they can see my whole desktop...... Thanks! Very sorry. Mac OSX and Cyberduck. When I look at my domain (if that is the right word) via your service I see that all my files, folders etc are visable. I attempted to change permissions in Cyberduck but that didnt seem to have an effect on this. I dont want people fishing around in my files when all I want to do is have them access an FTP folder to Down/upload.... Thank you! |

First off, this isn't "our" service - we're all users (the exceptions are those with ♦♦ next to their name). You need to change the settings in your FTP server or web server (if you're just putting the name of your hostname into the web browser then you're using a web server). Cyberduck is a service browser, so it isn't the settings there you need, but the settings on your server software. What are you using to run your FTP server - is it the FTP server built into MacOS X? If so we need to know the version of MacOS X to direct you to the relevant documentation. Note though that FTP is horribly insecure - it passes the username and password in the clear (unencrypted). It would be far better to provide an SFTP service. A quick look at the Apple support site found this which mentions where to find the FTP server configuration settings. A Google search for The trick is to ensure that anonymous FTP is restricted to only be able to access the folders you want them to have access to. Unfortunately I have no experience of MacOS so can't help you. You will however find plenty of experts at the Apple forums who'll be able to help you with that part. Its is OSX 10.5.8, and yes I am using the OSX server And yes I should use SFTP no doubt. I am new to this sorry, thank you
