I am trying to set up UltraVNC to connect remotely to my desktop. It works great on my local network connecting back and forth with the IP addresses, but I haven’t been able to connect using my DynDNS host. Both computers are vista the router is a very old D-link DI-514. I'm not sure but I think the "DynDNS Updater" client is updating my hostname with the wrong address, however even when I manually updated to the address I believe is correct it still wouldn’t work. I can not ping my hostname with the IP address it is currently updating to. |

I'd start here and work through it. Your client should be updating with your WAN IP address and don't worry about the lack of ping - that's your router you're trying to ping and it's normal for them not to respond. The WAN IP address is totaly differant from the one it keeps updateing to.

What are the first 2 numbers of your WAN IP address? Are they RFC1918, as mentioned in the post I linked to?

That's one of the RFC1918 addresses mentioned in that post I linked to. You need to talk to your ISP.
