I'm planning to register a domain and get webhosting for my company but there's something i want to know. Let's say i registered "mycompany.com", i have few staff, and all of them are using dynamic IP address at home. Can I create a subdomain such as "staff1.mycompany.com, http://staff2.mycompany.com, http://staff3.mycompany.com ...." for each staff i have so it will point to their house dynamic IP? The reason being is to let them access their house pc by using company's subdomain even if the IP changes. Currently some of them is using "no-ip & dyndns" to access their home pc and also their IP camera.I'm a little bit confuse the difference between subdomain and dns. I just want the DNS to be under my company "mycompany.com" instead any random name. I also notice that under my router configuration there are: DDNS Service > http://DynDNS.org or http://TZO.com Account / E-mail > Password / Key > Domain Name > So i thought they all can use this configuration in their router to point to a unique address given by company. So it will solve the dynamic ip issue and also there will be my company's name at the address. Please assist me on the best way or possible way to this matter. Thank you |

To do that without giving the staff the username and password for your domain (which you probably don't want to do) you'll need to use Dynect instead of Custom DNS. Subdomains aren't anything special in DNS - though for management purposes I'd suggest you use Edit 1You need to:
I don't have a Dynect account so can't post step by step instructions. From what I have seen of it however anybody familiar with DNS will have no no difficulty with a fairly intuitive web interface. If you don't know DNS then I'd suggest you get the assistance of somebody who does. Can you guide me step by step, im confuse at the whole dns, host, subdomain thing. Anyway can i register the domain at some other webhosting company and use this services you are suggesting?

Not sure what step by step instructions you're looking for. A good starting point would be http://www.dyndns.com/support/ .
