Suddenly, I can't hit my webcams, or anything locally on my home network from a remote connection. The routers external IP address resolves properly with dyndns lookup tool, but when I try to use (hostname).gotdns.com:port or (myexternalipaddress):port I can't hit anything on the local side of my router. However, I can see everything from a local connection. I have gone through the troubleshooting page in detail. Except, I haven't yet called my ISP to see if they are blocking any ports. However, I'm fairly sure they aren't blocking all the ports I have been trying. The only thing I can think of, is that my routers "virtual server" setup is hard-wired to access http://dyndns.org and not http://dyndns.com. However, it's been working fine like this for months now without any problems. I'm stumped. |

OK - slap me silly. I don't know how or why, but a remote reboot of the router fixed the problem. This will continue to be one of the great mysteries of the universe as to why this problem happened. But, I got it fixed. I knew it wasn't anything I did that caused it, because I was out of town at the time, and suddenly couldn't access my webcams. However, I was able to do a remote login to my desktop computer and reboot the router. Thanks for the reply. I'm glad this was an easy fix. Usually when I have a problem, there's nothing easy about it. |
"The only thing I can think of, is that my routers "virtual server" setup is hard-wired to access http://dyndns.org and not http://dyndns.com." -- That is probably unrelated with your issue, it has only relevance for the DDNS update process, and this is apparently not where you have troubles. You may try to ping your hostname or IP address to see if this works.
