This question was originally included on this post, and was moved here as a separate question for clarity. Will Apple Wide Area Bonjour work ok with a subdomain instead of a base domain? ie have Custom DNS service on http://sub.domain.com and configure the rest accordingly, so hostname in AirPort would be "airport.sub.domain.com" etc? |

Yes. Just make sure that the PTR records created as indicating in the DynDNS.com Wide Area Bonjour instructions reference http://sub.your-custom-zone.com in the data portion, instead of http://your-custom-zone.com. Example:

Thanks - I've set this up, in this manner Nothing appears when using my AirPort Extreme… ie http://airport.sub.your-custom-zone.com When using my MacBookPro, I can see its bonjour service records showing up in my custom zone - so something is working there. But the device itself 'mbp.sub.your-custom-zone.com' does not appear as a separate DNS record with an IP address. Should this not be occurring too? cheers Perhaps you're experiencing this behavior? http://www.dyndnscommunity.com/questions/1087/apple-airport-does-not-create-global-dynamic-hostname-in-custom-dns-zone

yes it appears that would be it. Thanks, I thought I could use this stuff as more of a drop-in-replacement for the standard dynamic ip service - but it seems not the case. Cheers :)
