I am using a Synology 207+ NAS as a WebServer

Webserver can be accessed via intenal IP

External IP being obtained.

Port 80 has been checked and is open

Port 80 has been forwarded to correct internal IP (static)

Firewall has port unblocked

Problem - WebServer can not be accessed via external IP and hence also not via DynDNS service.

I'm not sure what to check or do next.

I have the same problem. I have now tried everything that I can think of and nothing worked, I would be very thankful for some hints what I should do.

I chose some random port (4464) and configured my server to listen at this port, i.e. http://localhost:4464 and http://192.168.178.41:4464/ (internal ip address) work perfectly, both with IIS 7 and with Apache which I have tried out separately (I run Windows 7 and completely turned off the firewall for the testing).

I then have configured my router (FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7050) to forward port 4464 and all the online port-checking tools show that the port is in fact open. However, when using http://musicplatform.dyndns.org:4464 or my external IP address http://217.162.230.44:4464 I get a connection timeout (which I also get for other ports that are not open).

The only thing I noticed is the following: The Bittorrent client Vuze also has a built-in TCP port-checking tool and when using this tool several times successively, the port was in some cases shown as open, while the tool reported an error "connection reset by peer" in other cases. I could not find any special issues with the FRITZ!Box in that regard, but maybe this is a hint to follow up on? (how?)

Best, Leopold

Leopold,

It's always better to start a fresh question rather than post your question as an answer to somebody else's question.

You've worked through the wiki entry? You don't have an ADSL modem and the WAN IP of the FRITZ!Box is the 217.162.x.x address?

Hi Cry Havok,

thanks for the quick reply. I will remember for next time to start a new question; I did not quite know what to do, since it also felt funny to ask the same question twice.

I have seen the wiki and I thought I had done everything, but I missed to mention one important thing: I do have a separate ADSL modem, epc2203 from Scientific Atlanta, which is connected to the FritzBox. The FritzBox is configured to "create the internet connection by itself" and this "via IP" (no login data, the other choice here would be PPPOE).

And yes, 217.162.x.x is the WAN IP of my FritzBox.

For general troubleshooting please work through this wiki entry. E.g. port 80 may be blocked by your ISP or reserved by your router for its maintenance interface, so you may be forced to use another port, e.g. 8080.
