General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Has anyone ever gotten Global Dynamic Hostnames to work? It seems to be more miss that hit. Its great that DynDNS has this in "beta" but no support what so ever?

I haven't used Dyn's service so my comments are regarding the functionality itself rather than Dyn's implementation. In the interests of disclosure, I've written an open-source DNS server that implements the Wide-Area Bonjour extensions and I am considering offering it as a commercial service.

I think WAB works very well. The only unfixed client bug that I can definitively say is a client bug is that service name conflicts are not handled. To my knowledge no one on this forum has run into this bug and I've only ever encountered it in a synthetic setup. Beyond that, for registrations, if the clients are behind a single NAT with uPnP or NAT-PMP available or they have routable addresses it's issue free. For browsing clients, as long as they're not behind a draconian firewall it's also issue free.

Andrew, Thanks for your reply. I'd be interested in a service were WAB just works. I seem to keep running into bonjour services that just don't seem to work consistently (or are not getting updated as the should.) For example... screen sharing (vnc)... worked yesterday, today, not so much... The http://localnamehere._rfb._tcp.mydomain.com is missing in the DNS records. Since it was there yesterday (and this device is not behind a firewall) I have to conclude it is DynDNS service causing the issue(s).

This seems to be rarely used, so you may not get an answer soon in this user to user forum.
As you have a paid account, why not simply contact DynDNS Support?

They clearly state support is only provided in the forums.
