Hi, I own my own domain. I'd like to setup custom dyndns to access my home network remotely. Since my domain currently points to my website, I thought the best alternative would be to create a subdomain (server.mydomain.com) and have that point to my custom dns service. What I'm uncleaer about is what I need to update on the records of my domain. I read that the nameservers cannot point to nameservers other than the custom dns, so it was my understanding that creating a new A Host would solve this. Is this correct? Can I create a subdomain and have that point to the custom dns and then be able to access my home network remotely, without affecting the configuration and where http://mydomain.com points to currently? Thanks for the help - sorry if my explanation is a bit uncleaer. |

You can definitely host just a subdomain with Custom DNS. It requires creating NS records at your current DNS provider for the subdomain. Please read this article for more information. http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/using_custom_dns_with_subdomains.html |

Note - Why not move your domain entirely to Custom DNS? I don't think Custom DNS can be used with a sub-domain, I think it has to be used with a second level domain (eg Based on what you said, moving my domain to custom DNS would not solve the problem if I can't use the service on a sub-domain... is that correct?

Am I wrong to assume this same concept would apply to the custom dns service? Thanks |

Custom DNS is different from the free Dynamic DNS service. You can create sub-domains and hosts with Custom DNS, I have |
