Some routers have been reported as not supporting domain names with '-' in it. Others that their router doesn't support long passwords - limits of between 8 and 12 characters aren't uncommonly reported. Finally it could be that you didn't complete the checkout process - is the hostname visible in your account?
As this is a user to user forum, we don't know. If that is what appears in your account then it is correct. Certainly it currently resolves, even if your router is unable to update it.
That your router is unable to update the hostname doesn't stop clients connecting to services behind the IP your hostname resolves to. You must run an update client if your IP address is dynamic, or if you haven't subscribed to the Dynamic DNS Pro service. |

I had the same problem. I used an address without a - (dash) in it and it resolved the problem. |

The part about some routers not liking long passwords is absolutely true and very much frustrating. I shortened my password from 13 characters to 9 characters and my FiOS router finally syncs with DynDNS. |

I'm not sure that what I typed for the Host Name is correct or not. It is what I copy and pasted from your website located at this link. https://www.dyndns.com/account/services/ Does it appear to be the correct information? Actually this is odd, I just tested this with my iPad and it seems to connect to remote desktop even though it says "The hostname does not exist". And it's a brand new router by the way. |
