General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hi, I’ve been reading instructions online for weeks now for different websites and still cannot get my Zmodo H9108V dvr to be seen remotely on the web from outside my home network. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Here’s what I’ve done so far: •I can consistently see the dvr with both netviewer AND my iphone from my INSIDE my home (connected to the wi-fi at the house). This works with both my local IP address (192.168.1.100) and external IP (using http://DYNDNS.org account) for settings in both Netviewer and iphone apps (asee+, aplayer, vmeye)

•When at work and connected to the LAN at work, I have Netviewer installed here and when I key in the IP as being http://nyname.dyndns.org and then account being “admin” for dvr default, the port as 9000, and “internet” I keep getting “login failed”. Can Netviewer ONLY be used on a local LAN where the dvr is connected or can it also be used for anywhere in the world to get access to the dvr at home?

•Likewise to above, my iphone is able to see my dvr using the 3 mentioned apps when at home ONLY; when I connect to my wifi at work and use the settings: IP = http://myname.dyndns.org & port = 9001 & user being my name and password as programmed in dvr under mobile settings, I get the login failure also. Using these same settings though when connected to the wifi within my house, everything works fine.

•I do have the router set up with ports forwarded for 80, 9000, 9001. Also have the router set up for dynamic dns which contacts the dyndns server under my account name periodically with external IP address changes from the ISP

So I’m not sure why I CAN connect successfully at home with both the internal and dyndns settings, but CANNOT connect at work with either of them (netviewer and iphone apps for dvr viewing). Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Dave

What are you using to update your DynDNS hostname?

The failure from your work should be expected - they probably only allow certain ports out. You should try from a friend's Internet connection.

There is a separate tab for configuring mobile access. The default port is 18004. Port 9000 only works on the intranet.

Followup: Was able to get Netviewer to connect from work to my DVR (which is at home). It worked once then stopped connecting. Will not connect now again. Seems like something is going on when my router maybe sends the new IP external address to http://dyndns.org for my account? I was thinking there was something not set up properly on my router with a firewall or something since I wasn't able to connect at all. But now since I've successfully connected once today, I have to assume the router is fine and something just is not giving constant access, only now and again. Any ideas?
