ok here's my setup

port 80 is my website
port 85 is my security camera's web server
port 86 is my remote desktop using java http://www.tightvnc.com
port 88 is my audio broadcast
port 89 is my router web page so i can control my router from outside the network

the issue that i have is my web server, security camera, remote desktop and audio broadcast is on ip address 192.168.253.100 and the only way for this to work like it should is to go onto my laptop (192.168.253.100) and set it for manual setup of ip address and everytime my isp changes the ip of my router my laptop loses internet access because the dns settings aren't being updated automatically like before because i have to do it manually so i can keep the 192.168.253.100 ip address otherwise i spend a crazy amount of time making sure my site is running. what can i do?

You need to edit your message to elaborate further:

What is the change of your public (WAN) IP address by your ISP to do with your private (LAN) server IP address 192.168.253.100?
What is the problem with assigning your server the static IP address 192.168.253.100?
What kind of Update Client do you run, if at all? (You must!) Why doesn't it work?

The points in brief:

  • The internal IP address 192.168.253.100 should be assigned as a static one to your server. It must be outside the DHCP range of your router. EDIT: As subnet mask you may use 255.255.255.0, i.e. only the last octet is variable within your LAN, the first three octets are fix. As gateway and DNS server use your router's IP address (could be 192.168.253.1).
  • The port forwarder rules on your router all point to internal 192.168.253.100, except the one for the router's admin interface.
  • You run exactly one Update Client out of this network keeping your public IP address information current for your DynDNS hostname or domain.

ok the wan addresses changes to whatever my isp gives me i have no control of it, the inside of the network starts at 192.168.253.100 and ends at 192.168.253.199. the server is properly set at 192.168.253.100 and the router forwards the needed port to that ip address. i don't have an issue with my website working, im also using dyndns updater so my url is always in sync with the ip address from the isp.

the issue i have is my server which is a laptop (192.168.253.100) doesn't let me select the option automatically find the dns ip address because i had to manually do it. because otherwise my laptop changes ip address and the router doesn't send it to the right ip address.

ok in your points bullet 2 and 3 are ok, they are done properly. bullet one too but i have a issue because of bullet 1

what im talking about is on the tcp tap of the network card it ask if u want to choose ur own ip or let me be selected for u, which i selected i want to choose my own and it's 192.168.253.100 the mask thing is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is my router 192.168.253.1 and below that it askes if you want dns for the computer to be automatic or manual, but because the ip address is manual the dns is also selected as manual and i can't change it. so because it's manual i can't access the web. that's what i need help with. note that even tho i can't go on web my site still works :/

See this question about removing the Internet Guide settings, which is what's changing your DNS server address. When you installed the update client you selected that.

i realised where my issue occurs it's that dyndns update program, it's the one messing up my setting and changing my dns server address all the time. it's really annoying :/ really wished it didn't do that
