Very odd. Upadater on Mac shows proper wan ip but host on dyndns shows ip address for an ISP that translates to AT&T. My ISP is comcast. Updater shows no activity in logs for last two days. I do have an iPad to connect to cameras but usually over wifi from my office. Disconnected logmein on Mac as one suggestion was this service was affecting ip address.

Have to manually log on to dyndns account to update host at least every other day.

I have no idea what is causing this or how to fix???

Thanks for any help, Bob

Is this the same IP address as of your router's status page?
What of those two IP addresses does http://checkip.dyndns.com/ show?

Updater shows no activity in logs for last two days.

Your IP address may not have changed since then (from an Update Client perspective), so no reason for activity.

No, nothing in the world beside your ISP can affect your IP address.

Also, it would be good if you could post your DynDNS hostname here and the IP address your Update Client sees, else we users have no way to look into this.

Ip address on router status is the address of my voip box as that sits before router, after cable modem. Router has static ip. Voip makes internet connection to cable modem.

Ok, so what WAN IP address is your cable modem showing, or the VoIP box?

checkip shows proper ip address.

You never know. http://Checkip.dyndns.com shows the IP address the internet sees from you, not necessarily your real WAN IP address as from the modem or VoIP box.

They have a built in dyndns updater which is setup.

Oops, this is bad! Never ever run more than one Update Client against a hostname, else your hostname will be blocked due to abusive updates rather sooner than later.

Note that my ip address (actual and per updater) has not changed since the last manual change (3-4 days ago) because of same problem.

Yes, this is what I thought, else you would see it in the Update Client's log.

What is happening is that the host ip on dyndns is changing to an ip address...

Is there any other Update Client outside your LAN working against that hostname? Did you ever sell or leave a device with an Update Client somewhere else in the world? You may consider to change your password on the website and on the only one Update Client you run, and this symptom will most likely stop.

Thank you for prompt response.

  1. Ip address on router status is the address of my voip box as that sits before router, after cable modem. Router has static ip. Voip makes internet connection to cable modem.
  2. checkip shows proper ip address. Of course I just changed address on dyndns manually about an hour ago.
  3. The only other connection to dyndns are my Foscam cameras. They have a built in dyndns updater which is setup. These are the cameras I connect to with ipad.
  4. Note that my ip address (actual and per updater) has not changed since the last manual change (3-4 days ago) because of same problem.

I do not think comcast is changing my ip as it has not changed. What is happening is that the host ip on dyndns is changing to an ip address that resolves to SBC communications (ATT) even though updater shows proper ip. So when I try to access cameras no go as dyndns ip (ATT) goes no where. Have not been able to tie change to any specific event.

Perhaps conflict or issue with Foscam dydns updater??? Cameras are stand alone wifi enabled.
