Hello! I am all new to this so please forgive me if I ask silly questions. After a burglary at my home (I have four kids) I purchased a DVR. I have Windows XP. I checked router gateway, dns, etc. I checked DVR IP and ports and fill in the DVR with gateway, dns, etc. same as router I made port forwarding to router. I created a domain name to Dyndns, downloaded dyndns-updater and put information on DVR. Forgot to mention that I have dynamic IP from my provider, but they told me I could use static ip to local network, so I used static IP for DVR. • DynDNS hostname: http://thesimou.dyndns.org |

If it used to work but doesn't know then it usually means one of:
Edit
It means that your DynDNS hostname resolves to an IP with something listening on that port. It probably means a problem with your port forwarding or DVR configuration. The DVR should have a netmask of |

If you don't have Dynamic DNS Pro then you can't use
It worked for me when I posted, though not right now. This suggests that your update client isn't behaving correctly, or you have a connectivity issue. Remember to test:
Edit Works again for me right now. YES, that one day that I could see my dvr I used from mobile url: http://thesimou.dyndns.org. I had already tried what you suggest but it is not working... Beleive me when I say I try every possible connection combination every day... (with or without http, with or without www, with or without :8000, nothing works) So, I was wondering, what If I buy Dynamic DNS Pro and still cannot manage the view??? I am so dissapointed...

It seems you already worked through that guide, because you're providing the information being asked for from there. Very good!
That could mean that you now have two update clients running, the one in your DVR and the software client. Never ever run more than one Update Client against a hostname, else it will soon be blocked due to abusive updates! Run either the one or the other, whatever works best and is most convenient for you.
That may be the problem, not making changes! Your IP address may have changed, and your two(?) Update Clients did not work as supposed for whatever reason. Check at the website if your hostname was updated with the correct IP address. If needed, update it manually there, and check the one Update Client which should be running that it does its job right. Your hostname currently resolves as follows: nslookup http://thesimou.dyndns.org. Server: localhost Address: 127.0.0.1 Nicht autorisierte Antwort: Name: http://thesimou.dyndns.org Address: 94.68.150.167 But 94.68.150.167 doesn't seem to be your current IP address, because none of the mentioned ports are open,
Yes, this 192.168.1.1 is what you should configure as default gateway in the DVR as well. No idea where this bogus IP address 080.106.108.038 could be coming from.
Hmm, this IP address is strangely related to the IP address your hostname resolves to in no way... Something is going wrong... Or is this a typo and you actually saw 192.168.150.167 instead??? Visit http://rotblitz.byethost7.com/client.php and see what IP addresses are returned as
Hmm, what did you use the LAN IP address of the router for? You should use this as "default gateway" and as "DNS server" on all your devices in your LAN only, not for anything outside your LAN, e.g. not for your DynDNS hostname.
This is e.g. the latest service pack you're using, which is SP 3 for Windows XP. And also if you have the latest MS hotfix updates installed or not. |
You enter your hostname or public IP address there and one of your port numbers at a time to check if it is open and can be reached from outside. Don't be confused about the samples they give, just use your real port numbers, no matter how many digits they have.
No, 194.168.150.167 or 192.168.150.167 is not the same as 94.68.150.167 (or 94.68.179.63 in between). Or what do you want to express here?
Well, the Open Port Tool now shows a better result: You should be good to go. You can only use Internet Explorer to use your device. thanks for your help but still... no luck... :( Internet Explorer says cannot connect (I use http://www.thesimou.dyndns.org:8000) and I still don't have mobile view from my mobile application (it worked for one day). I am almost crazy! I cannot make it work! @#%$#$^&%%^ Any ideas what else should I check?

Well, here is what is going on now... You said you could see me, then you could not and then again you could... You said that might be a problem with the updater... I downloaded the dyndns updater and I checked it with the routers page... Every time I checked it is ok. My mobile app has four fields that need to be filled: these are: address: I tried dyndns and wan ip with or without http port port: I tried mobile port and http port username and password. Every time I get message CONNECTION FAILED. BUT, I tried dyndns hostname WITHOUT :8000 in the address field and I tried http port 8000 in the port field instead of mobile port and... THERE! I get CONNECT TO SERVER SUCCESS!!! but then, screen is black and I get message NO RESPONSE :( Any ideas? should I change the mobile port to DVR menu and make it the same with the http port? should I do something with the dyndns account? Since I managed to get the message SUCCESS, that means that dyndns sends me to server / router, but I cannot be forwarded to dvr, correct? But I have made port forward for all ports... Any ideas? |
