When trying to access my DVR from WAN, DYNDNS host name resolves to accessing computers IP address instead of DVRs router IP address. when i check the address saved in DYNDNS.COMs host name, it has changed to the address of quering computer, not the DVR router. what am i doing wrong? |

Not you, but probably the DDNS updater you're using seems to be confused. Edit your message to explain what exact updater and version you're using (software, router, DVR, ...) from the remote (DVR's) network. |

am using Verizons Actiontec GT704-WGB combo modem/router as updater (i think). only thing i changed was port forwarding of ports 80 and 9000. DVR is GADSPOT, i think LTS makes it. it is configured with static ip address. can't detect a pattern when this happens to isolate the problem. its intermittent, hasen't happened for day and a half now. really screwey!!! It would help if you didn't create fresh accounts for each update ;)

You must be running something else as an update client - the router wouldn't be sending a client computer's IP address in an update. Check the client in question to see if you, or somebody else, installed an update client on it. |

Sorry for not seeing your response - adding comments to your question doesn't notify anybody so we'll never know. Are you still having the problem? |

there is no computer on the lan that the DVR is on. there is only the modem/router, and the DVR. thats it! i occasionally connect a laptop to lan to monitor settings. its the only thing i can install an updater on. maybe thats the problem. i haven't hooked the laptop up for several days, and haven't had problem for several days. how can i tell if there is an operational updater on it, since i haven't intentionally installed one on it. and why would it be updating with an ip from outside the lan anyway? (sorry if not following proper protocol on forum. don't understand how to use it).
