Hi, I have some strange problems with accessing my server from the outside. It was working for more then 1 year without any issues and now I often can't access my Server anymore. Example: This morning I couldn't access my server, I checked my Dyndns account and the update date for the IP address was from yesterday. Then today in the afternoon, everything started nicely working again (I didn't do anything). checked again the dyndns account, IP had changed. It looks somehow "out of sync" to me. Any ideas? Can I tell my router to send the Ip update more frequently to Dyndns? I didn't find any setting for this. Thanks for your ideas |

As you didn't tell us anything about your router, how do you expect us to answer your question? Does your DynDNS hostname resolve to your current WAN IP? |

Knowing that it is a Netgear is a bit like telling your mechanic that the car is a Ford. It contains far from enough information to help anybody. It sounds like the update client in the router doesn't work. Try using one known to work, whether that involves running a software client on a computer that is always switched on (and on that network) or replacing your router. |
It could well be that another Update Client is running against your hostname out of the network behind 77.56.173.120 for whatever reason. If you can't find it out, changing the password on the website and on your Netgear router should help. |

hi, if you would have read the title of my post, you would have read I use a Netgear Router. To be more precise, N300 Wireless, Model number: WNR3500L, latest firmware. Regarding the WAN IP: DynDns shows me 77.56.173.120, last update Oct. 15, 2011 00:48. checking on http://checkip.dyndns.com/ I have 178.250.215.23 (the router shows me this one as well) DDNS update log of the router shows: <xxx.dyndns.info/178.250.215.23> updated successfully at 03:58PM,10/14/2011 If I try to access my server in the moment with the Dydns host, it's not possible. "Failed to open page" If I try to access my server with the IP (178.250.215.23), no problem. I don't know where the 77.56.173.120 comes from, it's also not my internal IP, my internal IP is 192.168.1.5 I hope this info helps, please tell me if you like to know anything else. Thanks for your help. |
