General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a domain name from Google through GoDaddy so that I could set up Google Apps and have an email with my own domain name. I currently have all of the Google Apps services as well as a hosted Web Server all resolved by the GoDaddy services.

I would like to know if there is a way to set up/transfer this domain to Dyn so that I could attach my home router's IP for remote access. I currently have the free account set up, and thats all fine and dandy, but its a rather long and bothersome address. I would prefer to have it resolved to my domain, but I have no idea what I should do.

Can anyone suggest anything?

1 Answer:

Yes, if you move the DNS to Standard DNS (see here on how to do so without any downtime) you'll be able to do that. Indeed, that is pretty much what I do - the only difference is that my domain registration is also through DynDNS.

All you'll then do is configure an update client for your chosen hostname and configure port forwarding.
