Sorry for the delay in being able to respond to folks, but wanted to make sure I had accurate information before I posted anything. Dyn has shifted away from offering free DNS, but now offer Pro DNS Trials. Users will be able to sign up for a Pro trial with a credit card and be able to take advantage of all that Pro has to offer for 14 days at no cost to them. At any point in time, users can cancel their trial, and as a thanks for trying it out, they will be able to keep one of their host names for free. To take advantage of this, new users will need to create an account at https://www.dyndns.com/account/entrance/ After you have created and confirmed your new account, you will see this screen giving you options to choose from: If you get the message that you have already reached your maximum alloted host names (or something like that) and you are currently at zero host names, you will need to visit http://dyn.com/dns/dyndns-pro-free-trial/ and click the "start free trial" button in yellow. At the bottom, you will note that there is a link for signing up for a trial (note that since taking this screen shot the trial period has dropped to 14 days). Clicking this will start the process of beginning your trial, and creating host names. Again, you can cancel your trial at any time within 14 days of signing up and still be able to keep a host name for free.

I'm annoyed at my IP Camera manufacturer now as they have promoted the use of DYNDNS and set it up in the firmware of the IP camera web UI. I shall not be signing up for a trial, and the removal of the ability to use a free host name has made sure I will avoid any paid services of DYNDNS in the future. Many times I have used free servies of companies to go on to buy their permium services, but this sort of thing really puts me off! |

i really don't think this is a good idea...it's like forcing you to pay for what you using now... Except if you use it now you don't need to worry about it, it is only new users that this impacts.

sorry sir,we no need the dyndns pro cause it cause dangerous may i ask u if we give u the credit card number,how safe is it? nowaday the internet is too many dangerous(u know our card number,how sure the safety?)(no say only ,we need proof) maybe next day dont know how much money will charge us? because of human being so how we dare to use it,no safety for us i hope the dyndns can same to last time,got free service dns cause u did the very good jobs past 10 years,thank How is it dangerous? DynDNS has been around for a long time, I've been using their paid services for a long time, they're not going to charge you random amounts.

as i mentioned,how u gurateed is 100 percent safe. if want to use the free account then need to enter credit card number then if the person dont have credit card,then because somebody need to use dyndns then he go to apply for credit card only for dyndns?do u know that this very troublesome for us?will make people dont want use this service(human being). also do you know got hacker,example,some of my friend they got credit card but not use it,but someone hack it and use the money,then my friend force to pay http://it.so got 100percent safe? last time dyndns not force us to enter the credit number,so dyndns can handle it,but now everyuser need to enter it,became more already,are u sure will not mistake(dont say only ,we need real proof) thank Why don't you start your own question about this, and then we may be able to answer you. This question isn't the place to start a discussion however.

Yes, with this policy i will search for another service that can provide free hosts and seams there are much more, like for example http://no-ip.com Shame on you, anyway you will be the only ones to loose whit this.
