Hi there, I am currently producing a e-commerce site as part of a university project. I have a mamp server set up on my mac using mamp pro. The other night I added dyndns to my new host and the dyndns log came up with this and my site is no longer available remotely and is only available on my local machine. The log had the follow error: error: DNS error encountered; please contact the DynDNS support with this information: dnserr so here I am .... since then the log as shown my host to be inactive and I don't have a clue what to do. Any help would be much appreciated, as I really need to get it back online |

Login to visit your hostname page to update the hostname manually.
This already includes the advice what to do, does it? The return codes are explained here. Edit:
True, so the problem here is that you are adviced to contact support which is inappropriate, as it is not available. What should I as a user like you say else, far from being able to help?
Why not? I said: "Login to visit your hostname page to update the hostname manually." So do what I said and update the IP address information manually. As you can see from the error response "dnserr", this update by the Update Client failed. So do it this time manually and observe if the Update Client reports more failures further on. Why does this not help? |

Yeah it tells you to contact dyndns support, but if you have a free account this option isn't available so I came here as I thought people would be able to help. Your answer doesn't really help, could you maybe provide a bit more information. Sorry for not being sure, this is the first time I've used dyndns so new to all this. Like I said any help is appreciated. |

Just tried what you said to do but the error still exists and it is still saying that my host is inactive, anyone know what it could be? This is driving me crazy! Is that a free hostname or one in your own domain? Can you tell us the hostname you're having problems with?
