My account no longer exists and the mail address for forget password is not recognised even though I got marketing mail 7 days ago. I have made a new account but a the previous simple procedure to renew the free domain name is not to be found...landing links all go to pay services.

You may find that the expiry email went to your spam folder.

However, you now have to sign up for a paid account and then cancel the paid portion - as explained here.
