When I try to resolve a specific host on the Internet that I have been using for several days in a row, Internet Guide DNS servers suddenly return 216.146.35.99 as the IP address for the host. I can set my DNS to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and resolve the host correctly. Why does Internet Guide fail to resolve the host? (it is a Microsoft Online host) Can you configure Internet Guide to provide an error page describing the problem when it resolves to 216.146.35.99? How can I clear the Internet Guide cache of this incorrect record so that it will correctly resolve the host? |

The IP address 216.146.35.99 you get returned from Internet Guide is http://nx-redir.dyndnsinternetguide.com, which indicates that the queried domain name could not be resolved. You probably have mistyped it. Without knowing the exact domain name we cannot investigate this. Regarding the returned IP address for invalid domain names, you would want to maintain a defense plan where you have the option (under advanced settings) to select NXDOMAIN responses instead of a landing page. Further, you would want to flush both your browser cache and your local resolver cache, the latter depending on your OS: And no, there is no way to have influence on the Internet Guide cache, as far as I know. You had to contact support if it really points out to be a glitch of the system. |
