I am experiencing update problems with my speedport W701V the last 3 - 4 days. The update was functioning reliably until the recent problems. When reconnecting to the internet at 02:00 MEZ the update does not work, but it does work when doing another manually forced reconnect at i.e. 09:00 MEZ. This leads me to the conclusion that the integrated update clients in the Speedport W701V does generally work. Any clues anyone? Regards Frank |

Unless a DynDNS community member has specific experience with your router model, it may be that you will need to refer to the router manufacturer and/or their own support forum/community. As an alternative have you tried DynDNS' own update client ? |

"Something must have been changed since the last 5 days!" Similar recent post concerning updates was answered with confirmation that nothing has changed at DynDNS which would suggest the problem lies elsewhere. The test procedure referred to in the answer may help resolve where the problem lies. |
Yes, and it leads to a second conclusion that the update servers may be overloaded at certain times. The other questions here and in the old forum about this matter (almost about Fritzboxes) indicate this as well. One of the problems is that most AVM routers (Speedports and Fritzboxes) are set by default to "tägliche Zwangstrennung" beween 3-4 CET, meaning the vast majority of these routers may do their job within one hour of the day. This cannot really work... Ah, btw, I have the same router (Speedport W 701V), and I do not update DynDNS directly, but go through DNS-O-Matic, because I must update more hostnames and services. This measure alone (going through DNS-O-Matic) seems to mitigate the problem. :-) For free accounts this gives you the additional feature to have update logs, so you can see what response DynDNS actually returned if the update didn't work for whatever reason. And this again may give you more ideas about what to do to get rid of the issue. |

I am using a W701V, too, and experiencing problems sometimes. You will know the sentence 'anschließend trat jedoch ein Fehler bei der DNS-Auflösung auf'. So far I was not able to find the reason. Therefore I changed to Inadyn and wrote a webside about my experience. Especially the messages you mention above with Error 0x68 are harmless. You may read about it at http://eene.mine.nu/webserver8.html (in German). |

I can tell you that this seems to be a general problem. I habe been using DYNDNS free for years without any problems. Since about some weeks I have problems very often. I use a Fritzbox 7570 and did not have a problem with updating since I use this router for about a year. My ISP disconnects me about every 12 hours. The situation since a few weeks is, that about every 3-6 days the update fails. My router-log tells me, that the IP-Update was successfull but a test 1 minute later failed. When I notice this, I force a reconnect and the update is successfull. The automatic disconnect does not happen in "rush hours" in the night. So there should not be an overload. I can say, that at the moment DYNDNS is not reliable any more. |
