As my client's router DDNS feature has got problems and is not updating its IP. So, I tried to use update client to update the client's IP on the dynect smb side. but every time when I enter the Username (not email) and password of the user that is managing only this particular clients sites, it doesnt log in and says that verify login credentials. Although when I am using the same login credentials I can login to my account. The user is a normal user and not a dynamic update user, so I think it should not be an issue. Client's PC has windows XP (SP3), updater client v4.1.10 My Questions are: Can a dynamic update user also be used to login in the update Client? Is there any other update client to use with Dynect SMB account? What could be any other possible problem? Thanks |
Not sure what a "dynamic update user" is, but if this is the owner or a sub user of that account, then I would say this is possible.
Any well behaving update client can be used, because the update process and API is dependent on the type of account or service in no way. However, many update clients do not support updating multiple hostnames. For example, ddclient would be a candidate for updating multiple hostnames.
As you say you can login with the same credentials on the website, but the authentication via update client doesn't work, it could be that you selected a password not eligible for HTTP transmission. Try with a password containing only letters, numeric digits, dash, dot and underline, not any other special characters. Beside this, because this is rather an account specific problem, and this is merely a user to user forum, I see two options here:
