General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hello,

I already have a domain (mydomain.com) working on my own DNS Server, but I would like to transfer ONLY one subdomain do DYNDNS (dynamic.mydomain.com), and use the DYN service to automaticly update this subdomain. It is possible?

So, is possible to create more subdomains using the transfered subdomain to DYN ? http://server1.dynamic.mydomain.com .... http://server2.dynamic.mydomain.com ....

1 Answer:

The domain mydomain.com is registered and exists, but is most likely not yours. You better used the "example" domains foreseen for this purpose.

Yes you can certainly delegate DNS hosting just for a subdomain, as outlined in this KB article. And yes, you can create 4th level subdomains of the other subdomain then.

But the better option may be to delegate DNS hosting for the whole domain/zone to Dyn to become able maintaining your whole DNS as you want. You just configure the other DNS records here as they are now with your current DNS hosting service. With Dyn Standard DNS you can have 75 DNS records.

Either way, you can leave domain registration with your current registrar, as you want. No need to transfer domain registration to Dyn.
