Hello all,

I (used to?) have a very old http://dyndns.org which I used for years without any issue. March this year I was in Japan with my family and my QNAP NAS which also updated my http://dyndns.org account. After the quake my wife and my NAS moved back to Europe and I did not have automatic update anymore. So for a while I had to update manually my http://dyndns.org entry. Now the NAS is back to work on my home network but it could not update anymore.

Thought I maybe there was some issue so I went yo the website and I had a very bad surprise on password recovery page:

  • when entering my username "eri" I don't get any password reset email
  • when I enter the email @bigfoot.com on which I received update requests (figure out how old my account was!) the system answers that there is no user with such name

I understand that your policy moves out from providing a free service, but do you think you will get new customers or good advertisement by kicking out users like it happened to me? Was my registered name that useful?

Or, can you be as kind as to show me that I'm wrong and explain why I cannot access my account?

This is a user to user forum, we can't help on account issues

DynDNS have long had a policy of removing accounts that hadn't had an update, or account login, in 30 days. It is likely that your account was removed under that policy. I know they send a warning 5 days in advance, though often it seems to be filtered as spam.

Unfortunately to set up a new account you will need to sign up for a free trial of the Pro service, and then cancel it to be left with a single hostname. Doing so will require a credit card.

I live in Italy, married with a brazilian woman and we've 3 sons. We used a dyndns free host linked with my webcam to let gramma and granfather see them everyday even from their home in Brazil. We didn't use our host for a long time so it has expired and now we want to create a new one to repeat all the thing. Unfortunately, I guess is now impossible to create a new free host, isn't it ? I'm loosing a lot of time trying to do something to solve the problem, unfortunately without results... Please, can anyone tell me something 'bout this matter ?
