I am trying to connect to my hostname but have not been successful since subscribing to the service (When I try to connect, it tries for 15 or 30 seconds and then gives an Operation Timed Out error). I am trying to connect to a new Foscam wireless camera that I set up prior to going out of the country for vacation. Due to a lack of time, I was only able to get the camera to work wirelessly locally (in my home), but not remotely with a static IP. I took screenshots of my network set up before leaving and can provide those details as needed. Here is my setup: 1) Foscam FI8918W Wireless Network Camera (set up for wireless connectivity) 2) Airport Express 3) Cable Modem Prior to leaving, I ran the Open Port Tool in the DynWizard and got an error message which said that there might be a firewall. Since leaving, I have read that I maybe should have had my Airport Express set up for "bridge" mode. Please let me know if this change (and any other changes) need to be made. Here are some key current settings for my Airport Express that I think may impact this issue: 1) TCP/IP - Configure IPv4 (Using DHCP) 2) DHCP (DHCP begin address 10.0.1.2, end address 10.0.1.200); DHCP lease (4) 3) Connection Sharing was NOT set to "Off (Bridge Mode)" Also, when attempting to connect to my hostname, do I need to specify a port number after the address (e.g., http://hostname.dyndns.org:80)? I tried this, but I do not know which port number to use. When setting up the port forwarding for the Airport Express, I left the defaults as is. I am currently out of the country, but plan to have someone stop by my home in the next day or so, so they could make the necessary local network updates for me if needed. Thanks for your help! |
