General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hi to every one, that can solve the mystery.

I am facing a common login problem to a anonymous chinese brand dvr via web. That, when enter the url : http://hostdvr.dnsprovider.com, the login page does appears, and takes the information properly, and also gives the response. But the response is an error msg : Cannot find the device.

Though i found similar queries here, but still can't get the proper solution. For example the case in following link. http://www.dyndnscommunity.com/questions/16692/can-see-dvr-logon-screen-from-www-but-logon-fails.html

I see every reply to this problem is asking for checking router, port and dvr-net settings etc.

But no one thinks about it that if the settings are not correct either in dvr or in router, then how come the web page is able to connect to the dvr login page ?

As the web page accesses the dvr via e.g http://hostdvr.dnsprovider.com for first time, the DVR itself sends back its default html page to the browser with login information for access, a html page with text and pictures and etc.

This means that, the configuration of DVR and Router and the DNS Account are properly setup.

If any of these settings is not valid, even a port number or port-forwarding setting or default gateway or primary or secondary dns values in dvr, then this communication between the browser and the dvr via the dns server "IN THE FORM OF DISPLAYING DVR LOGIN PAGE" could not be established.

So then where is the problem ? Because all that has to travel is the data, either its text, picture or video. If the first session is been created successfully, then why the next step doesn't succeeds ?

I hope, someone may diagnose the problem correctly and post the correct solution. And it will be his/her great kindness if replies the solution to me on xklojx at gmail dot com.

Waiting for soonest and solved reply anxiously.

With Best Regards. Knacky Kloj

Nobody here will be emailing you - if you want help from us, the other users, you need to engage here

The top answer there is still correct. Seeing the DVR login page doesn't mean that everything is correctly configured, or even that remote access to that DVR is possible.

Many DVRs use secondary ports for video streaming. After the login page some hard code the LAN IP, which isn't remotely accessible.

As always, this sticky is one we need you to work through and provide all the information listed at the end. Of course, you may also need to ask about your DVR on a DVR specific forum, since people there are more likely to know about your DVR.

I know that I must engage here, but for what i asked to email me is that, its just for convenience, as its easy to c a msg in email, and then come to forum. as the inbox is viewed more frequently than any other accounts.

I hope, you will consider this clearance.

Sorry, I give up enough of my free time to help everybody by providing answers here. If you want one on one help then you'd need to pay for that.

But you still didn't provided the valid answer.

As I said above, if you can access the web interface of the DVR the 2 common causes of not being able to stream video are:

  • The use of another port to stream video
  • embedding the LAN IP as the address of the video stream

These are the causes that we've observed here. If you disagree with the answer then please identify what you disagree with and why. Just saying you think I'm wrong doesn't really help anybody...
