General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I'm trying to forward a port using DDNS. I signed up for a DynDNS pro account for $20, then registered a domain for $15, lets say it's http://example.com

...so, uhh, now what? How do I get the domain to access the IP address of the device I'm port forwarding when I click on http://example.com??

1 Answer:

DynDNS Pro already provides up to 30 hostnames for domains you can select from.

If you want a domain name of your own, and you have registered this domain name, you also need a DNS hosting service like Dyn Standard DNS in order to use it. You do not need and cannot use DynDNS Pro with your own domain name.

So, you apparently got the wrong combination of services.

  • Either cancel DynDNS Pro and get Dyn Standard DNS instead,
  • Or cancel the domain registration (which may not be possible for this service yet, but only after a year or so).

Regarding port forwarding and what else to do work through this sticky.
