General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I have a paid domain which I would like to redirect to my home ip. My ip is dynamic, so I use dyndns updater. The paid domain is not registerd with dyn. Which dns settings do I have to make to let http://mydomain.com redirect to http://mydomain.office-on-the.net Please be as clear as possible since im not a pro at all.

Note that mydomain.com is a real domain, owned by somebody else. Please use example.com instead.

You can't do that without using a WebHop, which would require you to move your domain to Standard DNS. However, if you're doing that then you can update example.com directly as you would for example.office-on-the.net.

In short, the only way to do that is to move the DNS for the domain to Standard DNS.

  1. You could create a CNAME record at your registrar's site to point to your dynamic DNS hostname.
  2. Or use a Webhop if your registrar or webhost supports this.
  3. Or do what Cry Havok said, and delegate DNS hosting for your domain.

However, if they use a CNAME they cannot have email hosted anywhere other than on their own server, or use any other records at the domain level.
