Specs

Hostname: http://chenpion.dyndns.org

D-Link DIR-655 router Hardware version B1 Firmware version: 2.02 Port forwarding: 5000

Synology NAS: 211+ DSM 3.2-1955

At DDNS on Synology, I'm always stuck on Forwarding, please wait...

Also, I am unable to access my hostname via the web. I used to be able to with an older router, so I'm not sure if the problem is with the D-Link.

My hostname also constantly gets blocked because of "abuse".

The reason why I got a NAS and a DynDNS account was so I could access my files remotely and not through FTP. Could you give me some pointers on how to fix this problem? Thank you.

1 Answer:

What have you configured to update the hostname? If it is both the D-Link and the Synology then that may explain it. It is also worth noting that the DIR-655 is known to be badly behaved with some firmware versions. If you're only using one device to update your hostname then disable it and use something known to work.

This sticky covers port forwarding and testing.
