Hello, Using 4.1.10 for windows. We have 4 hosts defined. only one is checked. It has never updated with any consistence. If i change the IP on the site, then i dont ever see the update. Is there a way to initiate the update manually on from the updater? what is the auto update interval. I looked a all the other post and none are of any help. We have been using the linux updating for years without issue. Whats the deal with the windows updater? This should not be this difficult to use or it defeats the purpose. I would think it would at least update at boot if nothing else. Is there any alternative to this program? A web service maybe. I am going to roll this out for not very experienced end users and i don't have any faith in this method. thank you. |

All update clients are only supposed to update when they detect the WAN IP change - they are not permitted to look up the IP the hostname currently resolves to. This means that changing the IP for the hostname on the Dyn site isn't visible to the updater. No well behaved client will blindly submit updates on boot either. By design, Dyn's clients will only submit an update when they detect that your WAN IP has changed. I don't know if there is a manual option as I don't use it myself. When you say that the updater doesn't work, can you provide any log entries that might help Dyn's staff work out what the problem is? There are a number of other clients, both software and hardware, that you can use. |
