I'm looking for a DSL router to enable DDNS on my w2k8 server so my understand is that I need a one that support port-forwarding and bridging. What's your opinion about the Lynksys E2100L, is clear for me that it supports port-forwarding but not sure about the bridging. Any comments are welcome. Thanks, m0dest0. |

More Linksys devices are known to be problematic than are known to work, so I'd recommend avoiding using any update client built into a Linksys device. However, your router only needs to support port forwarding. You can run a software client on your server and you don't need it to support bridging. You'd only need it to support bridging if you were running a second router behind it, and needed to use it's update client. This sticky covers port forwarding and remote access, which you'll probably find useful. |

If you flashed your router with an alternative firmware, like DD-WRT, OpenWRT or Tomato, you would have a pretty good router for the purposes you need. |
