I've recently added a new host to the account. I set it up so I could see my ip cameras from remote locations. But when I set up the new host account, I am not sure if my settings/selections were correct, because I cannot connect to the new account through the browser? I am using a Bell 2 wire gateway, modem/router combo. I can see the ip cameras within my own LAN, wirelessly, but need to be able to see them from remote locations. Any help would be appreciated. |
I think you forgot to provide the information Scarabaeus asked you to provide - specifically all the information at the end of that guide. With it we can probably help you, without you we almost certainly can't. You forgot your Dyn hostname and the LAN IP (and netmask) of the router. I hope the information below is of some help. Internet connection type: Built in modem - ADSL Connection type: PPPoE User ID (b1xxxxxx): b1xxxxxx Current Internet connection: (this area was blank) Public IP address: 69.159.16.147 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.255 Default gateway: 64.230.197.162 Primary DNS: 207.164.234.193 Secondary DNS: 207.164.234.129 Host name: (this area was blank) Domain: (this area was blank) MTU: 1492 PPPoE access concentrator: bas3-sudbury98 PPPoE service: (this area was blank)

Thanks for the informatin. But you have notindicated if you have attempted to work throught the guide. And if you have, how far you got and what the problem is. I'm confused by your original post about what your network configuration was, and if it worked with remote accesss, BEFORE you added another hostname. Did the original setup work for remote access to cameras before your added the new hostname? I do see an issue with the ports for the two cameras. They both cannot be on the same port, in this case port 80. One of them needs to be on another port, say 81 or 8080. Please let us know with a little more detail of what the setup was before you experience the problem when adding the additional hostname. The original setup for remote access to cameras did not work before I added the new hostname. Only within my local LAN, to be seen wirelessly. I can certainly change the port numbers for the camera's, but you would think I would see one from a remote location? I tried to follow through the guide, but noticed that I needed a static IP address. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, BELL will not allow any static IP address's, unless it is a business account. I have a residential account, and they won't help us with respect to camera connectivity. They say they are not trained for that.

That reference to a static IP is for the devices on the LAN not the WAN. and those would be the 192.168.1.51 and .69 addresses you already have. Try to work through the guide, and only deal with one camera (and do not have them on the same port as they will confict.) Get one camera working. Then tackle adding the second. Post back with progress. You will need to forward "http" port 80 in the router to one of the camera IPs.

Hello loristrailersales, Your best bet would be to work through this quide, which will assist you setting this up. If you get stuck, post back and edit your question with your issue. Don’t forget to include the requested information at the bottom of the guide. regards… Thank you for the response. I have been in contact with my ISP and unfortunately BELL doesn't offer static ip addresses to it's residential customers, only to business customers. So I really don't think my account with DYNDNS is going to be helpful, if I cannot connect remotely. Your thoughts?
