Hi, I want to connect to an alarm panel anywhere in the world via the net. Whats the best secure way of doing so, and do i need names or ip addresses or combinations of both. Thanks |

This sticky covers how to remotely access a device on your network, and under what conditions you won't be able to get it to work. Note that you have to provide any additional security that your device does not already support - generally your only option will be to use a VPN. If so you'll want to buy a router that has a built in VPN server, or one that supports DD-WRT so you can flash it with a VPN build of DD-WRT. You'll also need to ensure that you buy a router that's known to work well with DynDNS and avoid those that don't. |
