General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

Hello all,

Apologies if this is a completely obvious question to ask for most but I am newer than new to this game!

Some friends and I are setting up a website and voice-over-IP server for a game we play (I know, sad). We already have hosting sorted out and the domain I bought through Dyn points to the nameservers accordingly, however we would like a subdomain http://voice.domain.com to point to the VOIP server so people can use this instead of giving the IP address of the server out constantly. It also makes it a bit more friendly to people using a url rather than an IP address to connect we think.

Can anyone tell me what I need to accomplish this?

1 Answer:

The domain domain.com is not yours, so don't use it, also not as example. This is what the example domains are thought for.

The principles are described in this sticky.

In your case, you'll want to create a subdomain name (A record) like voice.example.com in your Dyn Standard DNS package and keep its associated IP address updated with an Update Client.
