I have a NAS server that is sitting behind a firewall (router) that I want to securely expose so I can access it anywhere.

I want to do this using DDNS, as it supports this. I want to also enable the SSL login that is available on my server with a SSL Certificate.

My question is: Which package and SSL certificate would be best for this?

1 Answer:

For the package, the free Dynamic DNS service will be sufficient.

At that point the SSL certificate you chose will depend on how much you want to spend and why you want it. If it isn't for commercial use, or your customer base is technically savvy, a free CACert.org certificate will be sufficient. After that, for FTP any certificate will do - I'd suggest that anything beyond the cheapest option is overkill.
