General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I wanted to purchase a plugin on the following link: (and it's legit shareware distributed by http://shareit.com

https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/checkout.html?PRODUCT[300056947]=1&backlink=http://www.audiorealism.se/products.htm

For days I couldn't figure out why firefox (and all other browsers I tried) just couldn't reach this site. There wasn't a message from anything on my pc, not windows firewall, not kaspersky antivirus... nothing. Just a few moments ago I realised that it might have somethign to do with https so I tried to access http://secure.shareit.com using regular http and voila, suddenly dyndns displays a site saying traffic to the secure site of shareit is blocked.

I immediately disabled internet guide (because appearently there doesnt seem to be a way of modifying the block list unless you PAY for it.

There are 2 things wrong with this. 1. why doesn't dyndns (either the site or the updater) give ANY response what soever when you try to access https on a blocked site ? 2. if a blocker takes over my internet connection without my warning, i want to be able to modify it for free..

Otherwise dyndns is great, I use it for secure measures for my admin role on a forum.

thx

"there doesnt seem to be a way of modifying the block list unless you PAY for it."

There is indeed a way, also for free accounts. Just create a defense plan under your account, where you can control what is blocked, if at all. Even more, if you're using the Internet Guide, it is strongly recommmended to create a defense plan and associate this with one of your DynDNS hostnames, else you may be using another DynDNS user's settings...

"why doesn't dyndns (either the site or the updater) give ANY response what soever when you try to access https on a blocked site ?"

I can't imagine that this is the case, I had to reproduce this condition, which I'm currently unable to do.
Whatever secure.shareit.com (as a whole, not for the product you were looking for) is categorized as spyware, so may be blocked by Internet Guide according to the settings being used.

"if a blocker takes over my internet connection without my warning, i want to be able to modify it for free"

Yeah, as I said, you can do, even more you should! So, here you go!
