I purchased a .com domain for a friend as a gift, and want to make sure I can give him full control and ownership of it. The domain is currently under my profile, and he doesn't have a profile here.

What's the simplest way to give him full control and ownership of the domain?

Thank you

1 Answer:

You can't have someone else's domain under your account and the other person having full control over it at the same time without giving your account credentials away. He/she needs to register the domain for him/herself with a registrar, or you can do this on behalf of him/her to a certain extent. At the end the new owner must be registered as such, this is by law. Then the domain had to be transferred/delegated to this registrar, and as it is a gift, you had to take the costs for the new registration and possible transfer/delegation costs. Also, think about that domain registration alone is not sufficient. You also need a DNS hosting service, such as Custom DNS, else the domain cannot be used for anything...
