Hi, my isp give me a dynamic ip address. To access to my home mac from internet using a domain name, i need a custom dns zone + a registered domain name. At my home i have an Airport Extreme and i would use it to update my domain name when my IP change. I don't want use a DynDns update client because my mac is not always on. With these i can resolve the problem? Thanks |

You don't need Custom DNS, you can do it with the free service if you want to. If the Airport Extreme has a built in update client then you can use it to update your hostname. If it doesn't then you'll need some other device that is always on to perform the updates. |

Airport Extreme has the Global Dynamic Hostname builtin client that is different system to Dyndns updating. At this link is mentioned a support to Airport using Custom DNS and related, but i'm a bit confused because i don't unserstand if with this i can resolve the problems of my dynamic IP. I only want to have access remotely (over internet) to my Mac without using DynDns update client installed on it. |

The Mac has to be on, or you need to have working Wake-On-LAN support remotely, to be able to access it. It looks like, because the Airport doesn't have Dynamic DNS support, you can only use CustomDNS if you don't want to install an update client on the Mac. |
