Hi, i bought a Custom DNS with domain to create a wide bonjour area at home. At home i have an Airport Extreme and an IMac. On boths i have enabled the file sharing and configured the Bonjour service. At my office i'm not able to access to mac disk from finder window but only the airport disk. If try to connect via "Connect to server..." finder menu option with this string: afp://imac._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com the mac results available. If i disabling the disk sharing on the airport, the mac disk become available. If enabling the same service on multiple machines, only one works. The imac is connected in wireless to the airport. Where is the issue? In my domain http://example.com i have these sub domain and dns configuration: airport-extreme.example.com (updated with my dynamic ip address) imac.example.com DNS records: example.com A myisp dynamic IP _dns-update._udp.example.com SRV 0 5 53 http://update.dyndns.com. b._dns-sd._udp.example.com 60 PTR example.com. db._dns-sd._udp.example.com 60 PTR example.com. dr._dns-sd._udp.example.com 60 PTR example.com. lb._dns-sd._udp.example.com 60 PTR example.com. r._dns-sd._udp.example.com 60 PTR example.com. _adisk._tcp.example.com 4500 PTR http://airport-extreme._adisk._tcp.example.com. _afpovertcp._tcp.example.com 4500 PTR airport-extreme._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com. _smb._tcp.example.com 4500 PTR http://airport-extreme._smb._tcp.example.com. airport-extreme._adisk._tcp.example.com 120 SRV 0 0 9 http://airport-extreme.example.com. airport-extreme._adisk._tcp.glcan.ne 4500 TXT "some keys" airport-extreme._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com 120 SRV 0 0 548 http://airport-extreme.example.com. airport-extreme._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com 4500 TXT "" airport-extreme._smb._tcp.example.com 120 SRV 0 0 445 http://airport-extreme.example.com. airport-extreme._smb._tcp.example.com 4500 TXT "netbios=airport-extreme" imac._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com 120 SRV 0 0 32777 http://imac.example.com. imac._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com 4500 TXT "" |
This sounds like it could be a bug in Finder. I suggest you bring it up on the bonjour-dev mailing list. |

As DynDNS's service does not support DNS Long Lived Queries (an extension that allows for real-time updates) it's quite likely that you're seeing a cached response and won't see the changes until such time as the currently cached records expire. I'm happy to provide further detail on the mechanics of what is occurring but as I find this forum clumsy I'd prefer it if you contacted me directly. Please only do so if you can provide me with your domain name so we can avoid ambiguity. This invitation is open to anyone experiencing issues with Wide-Area Bonjour under the same proviso.

Sorry, I'm not an expert of all this Apple stuff, but you should know, in case you want to access multiple services over one public IP address (= (sub)domain name), you must differenciate these by using different port numbers and port-forwarding these to the related internal IP addresses of the servicing devices. Some routers and/or server applications may be able to check for the (sub)domain name being used and may be configurable to react accordingly (so called multi-hosting). Hope this helps in some way. |

The airport disk is on the standard service port 548, the mac disk is on 32777 port so theorically the port-forwarding is correct. I'm able to access via http://imac._afpovertcp._tcp.example.com. but not if double clicking on the imac icon in the bonjour window. example.com |

Does it work if you try it from the network that doesn't have the device you're trying to connect to? |
