I need a static IP to do a VPN connect into a remote Cisco Firewall from a Fixed IP address - so Im not using the Static IP for inbound web connections or anything - more for outbound only (at this point)

My Cisco roter will grant me Admin rights but only if it sees me coming from a fixed static IP.

Can DynDNS be used for that ? i.e. Can it give me a known static IP that I can use as the Admin IP to login to my Firewall ?

The only way to get a static IP is from your ISP.

That said, it sounds like a configuration issue on the Cisco. Setting up a VPN shouldn't require that you come from a fixed IP address.

Thats what I thought - its a corporate rule for security - inbound into our firewall can only be from a known static IP address.

More than likely the Cisco router is set up to do Reverse DNS lookup to check PTR records. However if you are using a Dynamic IP from your ISP then the reverse DNS will return with your ISP domain info (Like 'Cableone') and not your own domain. If this is so then your Cisco router is blocking you because of Reverse DNS failure. Either turn off the reverse DNS feature on your Cisco or get a static IP from your ISP and associate it with your domain name.,
