Does the DynDNS Updater client work on OS X 10.6? |
|
The latest version of the Mac DynDNS Updater (version 2.4 as of this writing) has full support for Mac OS X versions 10.4 and higher including Snow Leopard. |

pauloram: We get thousands of support tickets a month. The amount I see regarding the Mac Updater is probably in the single digits and maybe one or two are regards to the daemon not starting. Calling it a well documented problem isn't accurate. Usually a complete uninstall using the following method fixes the problem: 1) Launch the DynDNS Updater. 2) Click on the Tools menu and select the Uninstall option. 3) Follow the instructions to completely uninstall the updater and its settings. 4) Close updater and drag the app to the trash. 5) Redownload updater from http://DynDNS.com and install it from scratch. If you are still having problems, use the send diagnostic information option under the Tools menu and that will send an e-mail to DynDNS Support so we can take a look. |

danmaloney: DynDNS Updater 3.0 does support Snow Leopard. I am running it on two Macs with 10.6.4 installed myself and just about all of our Mac customers using it haven't had the issue you are describing. Not sure why you are getting that error to be honest. I recommend sending in a support ticket and we can take a look. |

I don't understand how Snow Leopard support can be advertised either as it fails completely, with the now increasingly well documented problem described above. I have not found a viable solution anywhere and fear I am forced to look for an alternate dynamic DNS provider. |

cgonyea, I don't understand how you can say DynDNS Updator has snow leopard support. With 3.0 which is the latest install, I get the same error error every time I launch the application. "Installing and launching daemon..." "daemon was installed but cannot be launched". Forced to quit. I don't have any kind of special install. Just 10.6.4 with all latest updates. What is the workaround for this? Until there is a legitimate fix, please stop advertising snow leopard support for dyndns updater. Please raise a ticket with DynDNS since this is primarily a user to user forum.
