Hello, I am trying to set up Custom DNS for use with Wide Area Bonjour. My goal is to be able to access my Bonjour-shared printers and disks (attached to an AirPort Extreme at home). I also have another AirPort network at another location. I would like to be able to access bonjour resources by going to "location1.domain.com" and "location2.domain.com" for each location. I followed this tutorial: https://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/apple_wide_area_bonjour_and_service_discovery_with_custom_dns.html I believe I have set everything up correctly, but I am not a DNS guru. I can't get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks, -Gil |

OK, I managed to see both networks. I am able to view the printer attached to my AirPort Extreme, but how can I view other Bonjour printers/devices on the network that are not attached directly to the Base Station? |
The AirPort Extreme will not advertise services on behalf of other clients. Each client is responsible for advertising it's own records both on the local network (Bonjour) and over the internet (Wide-Area Bonjour). I see. Do you know how I can configure other devices on the network to advertise their records?

If the devices are computers: DynDNS provide instructions for OS X and for Windows you can enter the credentials in the Bonjour Control Panel applet; if the applet is missing update your Bonjour install or failing that, install the SDK. Support on other platforms/devices is likely to either be limited (read-only) or unavailable. If you're prepared to adding static NAT entries in your firewall/router, you could manually add the appropriate records to manually register a service. For an overview of how the DNS records work, checkout http://bit.ly/ad8ekg and http://www.dns-sd.org/.
