General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I've been gladly paying "DNS registration" + "Custom DNS" until now. Now I no longer need the "dynamic" part: I have some static IPs where to point my domains.

I see no reason to pay the "Custom DNS" service when what I need is simply some static records. AFAIK almost every DNS registrar allows the user to edit static records, of course. If I understand correctly Dyndns does not do that: if you register here, you are forced to also buy the "Custom DNS" (or have an external DNS server).

This makes no sense for me and I hope I misunderstood something: I'd gladly keep my domains on Dyndns if I wasn't forced to pay an extra I don't need. Can I?

If I can't, how can I transfer the domain elsewhere?

1 Answer:

You are correct - domain registration and DNS hosting are separate things at DynDNS. If you search you'll find other posts with a similar view to yours.

Information on transferring a domain away is covered in the domain registration read-me.
