Thanks in advance. I can access my server via my assigne external IP (verizon) but not with the dns I have at http://dyndns.org. I am using client updater. Can anyone give me aome things to look at? In both situations I include the port number. |

Working for me. Open Port Tool shows that port open for that hostname. https://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html Plus when I go to http://htidsc.dyndns.org:5550 I am greeted with a screen saying it will take a few minutes for software to be downloaded on my computer and some antivirus warning. That means I am reaching your device fine. DynDNS is working, your port forwarding is working, everything is working. |

Yes, on my dyndns service page, it shows http://htidsc.dyndns.org resolving to my external IP. In fact, I got my external IP by logging onto my dyndns account. The dyn update client is on the machine that runs the cctv system; starts with windows start. That machine is connected along with most of my network through a highspeed switch, which is then connected to my Westell DSL router. My daughter can connect using the ISP assigned IP; but not with the the domain name at dyndns. BTW, thanks for helping out. The only thing I can think is that Verizon is blocking redirects from DynDNS. Is this plausible? Do I really have to use my DYNDNS account to determine my IP and then paste that into my browser? Hello .. If you need the answer, i have it already. If you have more then one clients in a LAN, then you have to specify the port from outside that you wanna use for connect . for example: PC 1 = http://mydomain1.dyndns.org have the connectionport 5900 PC 2 = http://mydomain2.dyndns.org have the connectionport 5901 so if you wanna connect to the PC 1 you have to specify the url like this: mydomain1.dyndns.org:5900 and for the PC 2 : mydomain2.dyndns.org:5901 otherwise you get the failure that your address is not reachable or ACCESS DENIED.... i hope it can help you. greetings Just to mention: you do not really need two hostnames for this exercise, as both hostnames point to the same IP address anyway.

Does your hostname resolve to your WAN IP? If not it suggests there is a problem with the update client you're using. If you are using a router to perform the update then that router must be the device that connects you directly to your ISP, not to an ADSL modem or another router. |
