Hi everyone,

I've managed to set up the whole system after 2 weeks of studying and asking around here and there on how to set it up.

But I have another problem.

I can access my DVR remotely via the internet from the office but I only manage to get connection for "Jpeg Viewer" only i.e. streaming of still pictures only. Any attempt to have a live video streaming via the remote desktop application failed with an error message that says "Failed to initialize application".

What does this mean? And how can I resolve this?

Is it due to:

  1. my home internet speed - normally I'm getting around 700kbs - 1.6mbs
  2. poor quality of my modem router. I'm using Riger DB-108 modem router as provided by my ISP
  3. poor LAN cables
  4. or is it something else that I did not know ?

Any suggestions/help will be most appreciated.

It sounds like the live streaming application is your problem. That it isn't working may mean that:

  • You need to open other ports
  • You cannot stream remotely due to limitations of the software

The manufacturer may be able to help or some of the DVR specific forums may be able to help - just remember to provide details of the DVR (make, model and revision).
