General DNS & Domains Dyn Email Update Clients Dyn Developer

I use a Q-See DVR that has a DynDNS update hardware client. How can I tell if it is working if it is not supposed to update until the IP changes?

You could manually set the IP address to, say, 127.0.0.1, and then wait until up to 30 days have passed. By then the DVR should have sent a forced update. This, of course, means that you won't be able to remotely access it.

Alternatively, check your host page every day to see when the last update was.

Alternatively, disconnect from and reconnect to the internet to possibly obtain another IP address from your ISP. You should very soon see the IP address associated with your hostname changed.
