Is it possible to install the update client on a laptop and configure the ip address update such that it will only update manually (Preferrably through some kind of "update now" selection)? Even more preferable would be a way to configure the update to only check/update when it is attached/connected to a specific MAC address. Is this possible? Thanks. |

This is an interesting idea, recent changes to the Windows update client for Internet Guide make this type of thing easier to add since we're already able to poll interface information. If we see enough demand for a feature like this we could potentially add it to the official client. -Dan |

This has come up on the forum before, and you'll find more there. None of the official update clients support this that I know of. I believe some of the clients may support this kind of functionality of only updating when connected to particular networks, but I don't use Windows so I can't say for certain. At this point I'm afraid that the only push button way I know of is to log on to the web site. |
